Terms of use

PinXMap is a trip planner: you find places, they become pins on a map, and the people you invite can see and edit them. These terms are the agreement for using it. They are written to be read, not to be impressive.
The short version.
- Your trips are yours. We store them so they are there tomorrow and so the people you share with can see them.
- PinXMap does not sell or book travel. No flights, no hotels, no tickets. It plans; you buy elsewhere.
- The AI can be wrong. Check anything that matters before you rely on it.
- It is free, offered as-is, and can change or go away. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot lose.
- Deleting your account deletes trips you created — for everyone on them.
Who can use it
You need to be 13 or older. If you are under 18, you should have a parent or guardian's permission. You are responsible for what happens under your account, so use a password you do not use anywhere else.
You can plan a whole trip without an account. In that mode the trip lives only in your browser — see the privacy page — and these terms still apply to your use of the site.
Your trips belong to you
Everything you put in — place names, notes, dates, bookings — is yours. You give us only the permission needed to run the service: to store it, to show it back to you, and to show it to the people you invite to that trip. Nothing more. We do not sell it, we do not use it to advertise to you, and we do not train anything on it.
Sharing a trip
Inviting someone gives them access to that trip. Think of a trip as a shared document rather than a private file:
- People you invite can read everything on the trip, and edit it if the trip creator's plan carries them.
- Removing a place or a booking is limited to whoever added it, plus the person whose trip it is.
- Your booking references stay private to you unless you share each one deliberately.
- If you created the trip, you control its name, its dates, and whether it exists at all.
What PinXMap is not
It is not a travel agent, a booking service, or a source of truth. It does not sell flights, hotels or tickets, does not hold your money, and is not a party to anything you book elsewhere. If a flight is cancelled or a restaurant has closed, that is between you and them.
It is not a backup. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. Settings has a Download my data button for exactly this.
The AI features, and their limits
Search, the concierge and the confirmation-email reader use Anthropic's Claude models. They are genuinely useful and they are not reliable in the way a timetable is reliable. They can misread a date, invent an opening time, place a pin in the wrong city, or confidently describe a restaurant that has closed.
Check anything that matters against the source — the airline, the venue, your actual confirmation email. The email reader fills the form and never saves on your behalf, precisely so you see what it read before anything is stored. Treat all of it as a fast first draft.
Fair use
Please do not:
- break into accounts, trips or data that are not yours, or try to;
- script the service, scrape it, or hammer the AI endpoints — they are rate-limited per address and cost real money per request;
- upload anything unlawful, or anything you do not have the right to share;
- use it to harass anyone, or to collect other people's personal information;
- resell it or pass it off as your own.
We can suspend or remove an account that does these things. For anything serious we will not warn you first.
Plans and payment
Planning your own trips is free and is meant to stay that way. Two paid tiers are described in the app — they add the concierge, the email reader, and editing seats for people you invite.
There is currently no way to buy a plan. Prices appear in the app and no checkout exists behind them. Nobody has been charged for anything. When payment does exist, these terms will be updated first, and the date at the top will change.
Other people's services
PinXMap runs on services with their own terms: Supabase (database and sign-in), Cloudflare (hosting), Stadia Maps and OpenStreetMap (the map and the place data), and Anthropic (the AI features). Map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors and is used under their licence. Links out to restaurants, venues and airlines are theirs, not ours.
Availability
The service is provided as is, with no promise that it will be available, correct, or preserved. It is free, it is a single project rather than a company, and it can be interrupted or discontinued. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from using it — a missed booking, a trip that did not sync, a plan that was lost. Some places do not allow certain exclusions, and in those places you keep whatever rights you have.
Ending it
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete my account. It is immediate and permanent: your account, your booking references, your picks, and every trip you created — for everyone on it. Places you added to other people's trips stay on those trips, no longer attributed to you, because removing them would damage a plan that is not yours.
We can close an account that breaks these terms.
Changes
If these terms change in a way that affects you, the date at the top changes and the change is noted in the app's changelog. Continuing to use PinXMap after a change means the new version applies. If you do not agree with a change, delete your account.
